Two blondes were going to Disneyland when they came to a fork in the road. The sign read: "Disneyland Left." So they went home.

TV Theme Tunes

posted Fri 16 May 08

There have been some great TV Themes tunes over the years.  It doesn't have to necessarily be because you like the show, or you like the actors.  Maybe you like the tune, maybe it just makes you feel good or maybe it's so cheesy you can't help but smile (see Jack of all Trades), but for what ever the reason you find yourself really liking that opening title (or maybe closing title!).

These are some of my favourite (doesn't necessarily mean I like the show, just the tune!):

Cheers
Jack of all Trades
Firefly (Added bonus Adam Baldwin singing Hero of Canton )
Airwolf
The A Team
Supernatural season 1 open titles (For what ever reason they stopped using this... such as shame!)
StarFleet: Bomber X Opening Titles Closing Title
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
She-Ra
Ulysses 31
Dogtanian and the three muskahounds
TerraHawkes
Thundercats
Mysterious Cities of Gold
Star Trek: TOS ; TNG ; DS9 ; VOY
X-Files

BlackPhil Contributed:

Tales of the Unexpected
The Prisoner
The Avengers colour

So what are your favourite team tunes.  If you post links and I think they are great I will add them to my list.

Well, there's Tales of the Unexpected, a theme tune that fitted well with the atmospheric, and generally rather macabre, theme of the series - and with very clever visuals too.

The Prisoner is very evocative of its time - very swinging sixties, with twangy electric guitars over a slightly over-the-top brass arrangement.

Of course the definitive theme for sixties style would have to be The Avengers, 'M' appeal era. This black & white, leather-clad version was probably better, but there was also a smoother version in newfangled colour.
