Of course, I have been to seen Sweeney Todd. It has a lot going for it in my book. It's a musical, always good. It's Tim Burton, who Rocks except for his Charlie and the Chocolate factory. It has Johnny Depp, always an added bonus.
The film seamed as though it was in black and white, but you realise that it's just they was everything has been made to look. It's a very dark film, and not just in the way it's filmed. When the first throat is cut you just don't expect the redness of the blood and the detail of the throat being cut. It made me, yes me, squirm. Once you get used to it you notice how fake the blood looks and you become desensitised to it.
The music was good, it was dark, hollow and made your blood run cold, just as it should for this film. I had not heard anything from Sweeney Todd before seeing this film, although I knew off the musical and of course I knew the story. It's not the sort of soundtrack you would listen to like Moulin Rouge or Les Mis but in the context of the film it's brillinat.
Johnny Depp still had problems with the English Accent (Think Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins) but he for his singing talents, and for his acting this can be forgiven. I really enjoyed this film and as long as you have to stomach for it, I would recommend it.
