I have been watching season 1 of Knight Rider 2008. I know it's 2009 but since it first aired in 2008 it tends to be called Knight Rider 2008, so that people can tell the difference between that and the original.
I was really sceptical when I first heard about the re-make. They have tried to re-do Knight Rider before, Team Knight Rider and Knight Rider 2000 and each time got worse than the time before. So when I heard about this re-make my heart sank. There is such a need at the moment for people to re-make things, and re-vamp things and make it worse. 90210, Battlestar Galactica and not forgetting all the wonderfully shite movies that have been remade over the past few years. Why people can't leave a good thing alone I don't know. There is a cliché that goes 'If it ain't broken, why fix it'. I stand by that. Why do people have to ruin what were perfectly good shows and put in shows that just taint the good name of a show.
But I have to say I've really quite enjoyed the Knight Rider series. I wouldn't say that it's as good as the original, but the script writing is superb and I'm enjoying the interaction between all the characters especially KITT. There are a few things that have really bothered me about the show like the fact that KITT can transform into any car make. Although KITT is a fantastic car, and I would still like to own KITT I don’t find I’m in awe as I was when I was a kid watching the original Knight Rider. The original KITT was one make and yet could deal with anything that was thrown at it. This KITT can’t and has to transform into various different car makes to deal with it.
Nevertheless it still is a lot of fun to watch and I’ve lost count at the number of times I have just killed myself laughing at what the script writers come up with. The water fight scene was just genius and I would have loved to have a go.
One of my favourite lines
Michael: Do you know what really confuses me?
KITT: There isn’t enough time to list what confuses you!
It’s just brilliant. Sometimes the writing could do with a bit of work, but over all it’s a good show.
If you do watch the show listen out for the voice of KARR, its done by Peter Cullen who was also the voice for Optimums Prime. Nice!
