You can not imagine just how annoyed I am right now! No scratch that, I'm beyond annoyed I'm much more than that, I'm ticked off.
As some of you know I've been working on a novel for a while now. Since I was 10 years old. I finally got to 59,500 words and only had a few pages of the original left for my re-write before I could do another print out. I was really chuffed, it's been a long time coming. I saved it on my key fob wanting to work on a different computer. Closed down my lap top, moved to my PC, put my key fob in the PC, went to open the file and it wasn't there! It was gone. Every last word of it. It was all gone.
The only back up I have is only 43,000 words long. So I've lost an awful lot of work, time and words. I'm gutted. I'm angry, I'm speechless. I don't think a word has been invented to describe how I feel right now. Oh well. I have to start again! I'm not impressed let me tell you.
Spike, policemen recover files that have been deleted by delinquents. It's
possible that you can recover your deleted file too. Why not try it? It
would be better not to write and save anything new until you see if you can
recover something. But even if you did, try, I say. I used to know the name
for a software that can search for a deleted .doc, a deleted .jpg, etc.
when you haven't written on the same area of the disc it's possible to get
it back. Unfortunately I can't recall the name of this software, but maybe
you can find something to download online or the software included as
freebies with magazines like PC Format or PC Answers, maybe they had
something to recover deleted files. I'll try to find what was the name of
this software. Good luck. If you can, save your work on two different
devices every time for backup purposes.
The name is "Restoration" (see our forum for more details)
