I have discovered an actress who has an amazing acting ability, a pose which I have never seen before, she has an amazing depth within her that makes her memorising to watch. She is a brilliant actress, I wish there are more like her in the world, would make watching films so much more interesting. When she's on the screen I can not take my eyes of her. Her voice is amazing, which the Russian twang.
I've watched Camille today, it's a film I've always been curious about since watching Annie way back when. For all Annie fans, you'll know it. It's the black and white film that Daddy Warbucks takes her to see. I've always wanted to watch it.
It has peaked my appetite for other Garbo films. I can not get over what a wonderful actress she is. I knew there were some fantastic actress and actors way back in the day, and I'm beginning to uncover them (God Bless lovefilm.com). I'm really enjoying watching the old black and whites. They are refreshing and clean, and it really nice to watch good skill rather than the claptrap that appears very often on our screens. Back in the day though they only brought out a handful of films a year, not a handful of films a month that happens at the moment.
I think that perhaps we should go back to only producing a few films a year and then maybe we'd get films of decent quality. It's like anything, when people spend time and energy they can create great pieces of work, but we seam to be mass producing films left right and centre and the quality of these films are going downhill fast. More and more each year there are less and less films I want to see, on top of that people seam to be intent on remaking lots of old films, or doing TV spin off films. All of which are just not great. I haven't been excited about a release of a film for what seams like forever. I remember I used to be excited each summer about what was being released. Now I don't care. I used to know what was playing ever week at our local cinema, now I have no clue. It's not unless someone asks me to go to the cinema do I know what is going on.
Greta Garbo has excited me about films again. I'm going to add a lot of black and white films on to my rental list and enjoy real film making and real acting. I even love the fact they are in black in white, I think they work better.
I'm so glad you discovered "La Divina." She was the best and so gorgeous
too!
