Two blondes were going to Disneyland when they came to a fork in the road. The sign read: "Disneyland Left." So they went home.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

posted Fri 29 Jul 05
I was looking forward to this film, as it covered more the dark side of Roal Dahl's book, were the Gene Wilder one was very sugar and spice and all things nice.  This one was dark.  The Oompa Lumpa's were fantastic and the songs, well they were insane but brilliant.  One thing that disappointed me was the ending, it really sucked.  Throughout the film you saw flash backs of Willy Wonka's childhood, which sucked.  This destroyed the ending to the film.  As Willy Wonka made amends with his Father and stuff.  I really can not fathem what made Tim Burton think this was a good idea, I found that it really did affect the way that the film progressed.  It became tidious and tired quickly.

Johnny Depp, as always, was good but Tim Burton's idea of Willy Wonka (And the book on the whole), wasn't were I would have taken the charactors.  Willy Wonka came across as a pervey old man, who you just wouldn't trust your kids with, and it is really hard to imagine that he created chocolate.

The sweet Garden did have Tim Burton written all over it, and when I saw it I was immediatly reminded of Nightmare Before Christmas (If you haven't seen it go now).  This is not a film that particularly stands out as anything spectacular but it wasn't a bad film either. I have to say over all I was pretty disappointed with the film.  Fidget rating = 5
