Bridget Jones 2: The edge of Reason

posted Fri 10 Dec 04
This article contains what some people concider as spoilers, so if you haven't see BJ2 and you hate spoliers, then go away!

So watching BJ I really didn't expect it to be as good as the first, because the first one is so funny. As long term readers of my websites know, I'm not really in to love, for various different reasons. I since I know she was still with Darcy in this film, I hated the idea of sitting in the cinema for an hour and a half watching Bridget being all lovey dovey.

But I was pleasently supprised with the outcome of this film. Yes some parts were unbelievably wet, but what I really loved is the fact, that Bridget was as nurotic as she wanted and Darcy still loved her, and still accepted her for who she was. I actually felt lonely watching this film. If I could find a man like Darcy, who would allow me to be as nurotic as I needed to be, and still love and accept me, I would be the happiest woman know to the human race. I really would be. The biggest failing they had in their relationship was lack of communication. from what I understand of relationships, that's everyones biggest failing. So many arguements and heartache could be avoided if you would only talk to one another.

Darcy would almost be the perfect man for me. He was kind, sensitive, accepting, and allows nuroticity (is that even a word!). I found myself really jealous of Bridget and what she had, and wanted to kill her when Cleaver came on the scene and she was having issues. I hated her when she didn't talk about what was bugging her about Darcy & Rebecca. She has a wonderful man like Darcy and she was willing to give it all up, let it slip between her fingures. That woman was nuts!

If I could pick a guy as my life long partner, I think I would choose someone like Darcy.
